WordPress の公式プラグインディレクトリに登録されているプラグインの数は55,000を超え、その数はどんどん増えているようですが、3年半以上前に、Top 200 WordPress plugin authors という記事を公開した方がいて、最近はどうなのか気になって調べてみました。
どうやって調べるかというと、WordPress には、plugins_api() という関数が用意されているのでそれを流用してプラグイン作者ごとにダウンロード数や有効インストール数で集計してみました。
ダウンロード数ランキングプラグイン作者トップ200
WordPress の公式プラグインディレクトリで、以前はダウンロード数が表に出ていたと思いますが、最近は有効インストール数が表示されているので、WordPress.org がダウンロード数よりも有効インストール数を重視しているのは間違いありません。ダウンロード数は蓄積になるので、かつては人気だったけど、今ではあまり使用されていないプラグインの場合、プラグインの利用者にとってあまり役立つ情報ではない、ということなんだと思います。
有効インストール数で並び替えてもよかったのですが、前回との比較の意味もあって、ダウンロード数順にしてみました。

トップ3者のダウンロード数はなんと1億超えです。ダウンロード数で3位につけた世界の Miyoshi さんも流石です。ちなみに自分の順位はというと、181位でした。2015年当時は80位だったので、かなり順位が落ちてしまいました。

有効インストール数で並び替えると203位・・・。最初のリストをダウンロード順にしたのは、有効インストール数で並べ替えると200位内に入れなかったからでした。それでもまだまだプラグインを使い続けてくれるユーザーがこんなにもいてくれるのはありがたいことです。頑張ってメンテナンスしていかないといけませんね。
プラグイン数ランキングプラグイン作者トップ10
最後にプラグイン数で並び替えるとこんな感じです。一人のユーザーで75個もプラグインを登録している人がいました。あまり多くは利用されていないみたいですが。
